Last night and first thing this morning Dave was pretty confused. "Soup" meant coffee, etc. He got up in the middle of the night and who knows what he thought he was doing. His sodium has been staying a little low through most of this, so his
homecare nurse said "back to Gatorade". I called the NP and told her about his confusion. Oncologist office had told
homecare they wanted to get Dave's lab at the office, so I just called and said he's very confused...I need to talk to a nurse and asked if we couldn't get the lab today. They said yes. Catherine T came over a little after I left for
Allegan. PTA got in a session today. When I got home Dave was napping in the living room and pretty pooped!
We saw the radiation oncologist this afternoon. Because of Dave's creatinine is rising again they are going to get a Brain MRI without contrast next week. If the 2 brain tumors responded well, we may go ahead with repeating the procedure on the tumor they couldn't get to last time. We'll have to see how the appointment with the oncologist goes tomorrow and how we're going to manage fluids.
Hoping to go watch a sunset this weekend with some family and friends. Updates to come.
peace, love, groove
I thought soup was coffee too! Might want to get some motion-lights up so he doesn't fall in the dark. When confused a couple of repeatable questions he knows the answers can act as anchors to bring him back by making the brain reach for chunked memory. Like a melody where you sing the first question part and he then sings the answer part.
ReplyDeleteI think I missed a few posts, but is the confusion due to the hyponatremia? Does it improve when his sodium level is stable? I do know that especially with some folks, the sodium doesn't have to be very low at all to cause symptoms....just askin'...
ReplyDeleteLOVE YOU!
Good ideas John. Thanks Mimi....yeah I think his sodium has to do with some of it....we're working on that. love you both!
