Pictures: Ice cycle; keeping a beer cold by the fire; Ruthie watching; Ruthie thinks it's still to cold; it's a fire night!
Wednesday after work it was time to feed the birds. I had to walk through some snow to get to all of the bird feeders. It was a clear quiet night, so why not start a fire too! Toward the end of the fire, a fine light snow started falling. The peacefulness of a winter's night.
peace, love, groove
It's amazing how the weather changes everything. You really can really see it at locations you frequent & it brings memories. Like a fender grill cloth that triggers the smell of Dave’s parent’s basement which had its own special aura. Magical times when it was all ahead of us & the world was ours. We try to hang on but we can only reflect. I have a set of electric bongos I bought from Bagatini’s in 1973 that are older than most people I work with. I have rebuilt them twice hanging on; but when I go to Church Street, no one I know lives there now, it all changes. Then you have people like Dave who gave and what he gave flowered into things that grew like passion and the knowledge of music. You don’t have to hang on to those things because they stay with you, like the time Dave was teaching me the steps to a major scale: whole, whole, half, whole, whole, whole, half. It was while we were on Dave’s paper route. I don’t know the name of the street but I know exactly the spot and the sidewalk where he said it and it was winter just like in your fire photos. Those memories are deep and seeded with lots of love the kind that makes life worth living. That’s the SUMBITCH Dave left us with plus the right answer to a major scale test question and more, like the entire Harmony book, how to transpose & more!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave!
